Known at one time as the “Textile Capital of the World,” Greenville once had 19 textile mills and thousands who called the mill villages home. The locations of the mills and the overlap of the villages form a crescent shape hence the “Textile Crescent.” A number of the mills pictured below have survived with many being repurposed for housing and businesses.
